
A foundational technique of my coaching practice is NLP, the principles of which, I believe, underpin all positive and lasting change.
So, what exactly is NLP? Well, a literal translation is… the brain (Neuro) processes the words we use (Linguistic) and how that impacts our past, present and future thinking (Programming). NLP is an understanding, not of the brain, but the mind, and how it uses input from the brain to create the experience we each call our life.
By looking at how our brains process things, the patterns we use in our language, and the behaviours that result, NLP gives us a good insight into the things that unconsciously shape how we think and act.
When we understand these hidden processes, we can figure out why we do the things we do and think the way we think. This knowledge helps us tap into our inner strengths and sets us on a journey of self-development. Ultimately, the practice of NLP techniques can help us transform ourselves, allowing us to live our lives in a meaningful and authentic ways.
In this moment, you are very likely responding to your inner thoughts, whether you’re aware of it, or not. But, once you become aware of your thoughts, and how you are repeating what you don’t want in your life. Then, and only then, are you able to change it.
Awareness is the key.
